I wanted to share the story behind my handle name. Many years ago, I lived in Maui with my Hawaiian wife during the time the Hale-Bopp comet was brilliantly lighting up the night sky. Her Uncle Andy became like family to me—we shared countless rounds of golf and unforgettable moments. He had a playful, affectionate nickname for me: Uncle Slammy. It stuck, and it always brought a smile to my face. Eventually, Uncle Andy returned to his hometown of Wailuku, Oahu, to reconnect with his roots. Tragically, his life took a heartbreaking turn, and he passed away homeless on Honolulu’s iconic Waikiki Beach. Despite his struggles, Uncle Andy taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, humor, and the true meaning of Ohana (Family). I miss you, Uncle Andy. 🌺🙏
